PAPOR STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION
PAPOR's Student Paper Competition
The 2010 Competition is sponsored by Western Wats

Students (and their faculty) are encouraged to submit their paper for the annual Student Paper Competition.

Papers related to survey, public opinion, or market research are welcomed. Specific topics sought include: substantive findings about public opinion, statistical techniques, methodological issues, new technologies or methodologies, or theoretical issues in the formation, change or measurement of public opinion. We encourage entries from any fields that employ survey and opinion research, including political science, communication, psychology, sociology, marketing as well as survey methods. Eligible papers will be authored by graduate or undergraduate students, currently attending colleges and universities in PAPOR's geographic region.

The entries will be judged by a panel of survey and public opinion researchers selected from PAPOR's membership.

Winner will receive

  • A cash award of $500
  • Travel expenses to the annual PAPOR Annual Conference in San Francisco, CA
  • Honorary one-year membership to PAPOR
  • A spot on the conference program.
Second prize winner will receive
  • A cash award of $250
  • Travel expenses to the Annual PAPOR Annual Conference in San Francisco, CA.
  • Honorary one-year membership to PAPOR
  • A spot on the conference program.

And both winners receive recognition at the conference from the top public opinion scholars and professionals of PAPOR! And that's not all: Past winners are also usually invited to present at the AAPOR national conference (in May 2011).

More benefits:

  • If a winning paper is co-authored, travel fees will be paid for one student author, but conference registration will be provided for all student authors.
  • In addition all entries will be considered for the Poster Session at the Conference, so students will have a chance to present their research.

Email your paper by October 15 2010, to: Quin Monson, PAPOR Student Paper Chair. Please include your name, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address. Entries should not exceed 30 pages total. The entries will be judged by a panel of survey and public opinion researchers selected from PAPOR's membership. Feel free to email in advance with questions about the submission process.
